BSc Medical Imaging Technology is a four-year full-time degree programme in the science of medical imaging technology that deals with the methods and procedures involved during the creation of images of human parts for the purpose of clinical diagnosis or medical science. It is a branch of Medical Research and Development, related to the study of various techniques of capturing images of human body parts for medical as well as research purposes. The course is designed with a diversified plan of study in advanced imaging (MRI and CT), healthcare management and general knowledge about the discipline.
The course is most suited to the candidates interested in expanding their prospects in the speciality of medical research and development. Ideal candidates would be proficient in time- management, adept at finishing tasks with speed and accuracy, handling stress, interpreting scientific/ technical data accurately, making analytic judgments, handling laboratory instruments, and operating computer systems. The course is ideally suited for candidates with an eye for detail, precision, self-sufficiency, self-motivation, and an ability to work within strenuous schedules.
After the course, graduates have the opportunity to pursue a master's and can specialise in any of the Imaging modalities. The graduates can work as Imaging Technologists in Hospitals with Radio diagnostic facilities both in the public and private sectors. They can join as Application specialists in Medical Imaging Equipment companies such as GE Healthcare, Philips, Seimens, etc. The graduates also go for teaching positions in educational institutions in India and abroad and pursue research activities in Medical Imaging Technology.
